Gold stash found in toilet wallWednesday, 7th December 2005 (4220 views) An opulent gold stash has been discovered in a toilet wall in the Indian city of Davanagere, Newindpress.com reports. The booty thought to be worth Rs 1.15 lakh was located back in January 2005 but the region's deputy commissioner only made the information publicly available yesterday (December 6th). Upon demolishing the wall, onlookers must have been rubbing their eyes with amazement as they gazed upon a wealth of shining trinkets, including four gold bangles weighing 74.5 grams and 22 gold ear studs weighing 29 grams. Three pieces of gold bangles weighing 11.5 grams and five gold pillets were also located, alongside an assortment of silver and bronze items. Officials are hoping not to attract the usual influx of charlatans, after urging anyone claiming the rights to the jewellery to come forward within four months. The glittering stash is currently under lock and key in the district treasury. The jewellery was discovered at the house of Timmappa and Ganapathi Shet, although it is not clear whether the couple stand to profit from the situation.
