Medieval gold items will soon be on display at the Museum of London.

The museum is opening a new gallery charting the history of the city during medieval times.

Among the intriguing artefacts on display is a gold ring dating back to the 1400s.

The eye-catching band – adorned with engravings of Christian figures including Thomas Becket - gives a fascinating glimpse into medieval culture.

The depictions were then though capable of warding off potential harm to the owner.

The gallery will also showcase a gold, copper and garnet brooch originating even from further back in the annals of London history.

It is thought the brooch is from the 600s and was found in a Covent Garden cemetery.

The display attempts to give visitors a wide insight into medieval culture with over 1,200 exhibits on show.

Bone was all the rage back then, with the exhibit accordingly displaying ice skates fashioned from animal bones and a 15th century dice and shaker also crafted from the substance.
