Gold Stellas on display at Santa ClaraThursday, 17th November 2005 (3730 views) A registry set of gold Stellas will be displayed at the upcoming Santa Clara Coin, Stamp and Collectibles Exposition.The coin set forms part of Superior Galleries' larger collection of Stellas, worth almost $5 million. The valuable coins include an1879 Coiled Hair Stella and an 1880 Coiled Hair Stella, of which only eight to ten are thought to be in existence. Superior Galleries' vice-president of Numismatics, Paul Simonetti, commented: "I have worked closely with my client to assemble one of the finest and largest collections of gold 'Stellas' in the world." The exposition takes place between November 17th and 20th, with a coin auction being held by Superior Galleries on the 17th and 18th.
