Some of Marilyn Monroe's most prized jewellery items are now on show at an exhibition in Long Beach, California.

Fans of the blonde bombshell can pay $22.95 to board a luxury cruise to see the display.

The hour glass-shaped Hollywood starlet clearly had an eye for gold.

A stunning white jade bracelet encrusted with 24-carat gold given to Miss Monroe by then husband Joe DiMaggio is included in the display, as well as a glittering gold powder compact containing a miniature clock.

Those with voyeuristic leanings can even glimpse a pair of the late star's underpants, should they wish.

But like the woman herself, the exhibition wasn't without controversy.

According to the Los Angeles Times, many Monroe fans have rubbished the collection, claiming that some of the items on display have little connection with the actress.

It's the second time the late US glamour-girl has hit the gold headlines in as many months.

In mid-October, a gold Rolex watch she gave to President Kennedy fetched $120,000 in an exhibition in Connecticut.
