Friday, 14th October 2005 (5925 views) Christies' will be auctioning off several rare wristwatches including several important Patek Philippe specimens.Going under the hammer will be an 18-carat pink gold perpetual calendar chronograph watch, manufactured in 1971 and coming complete with moon phases. Another notable watch from the same manufacturer is a heavy 18-carat pink gold hunter case pocket watch, dating from 1891. A Patek Philippe 18-carat gold water-resistant watch will also be up for sale. Other highlights of the auction include a rare 18-carat gold skeletonised perpetual calendar chronograph watch with moon phases, estimated to fetch $40,000 to $60,000 and an 18-carat white gold and enamel watch made by Audemars Piguet. The most expensive watch in the world was a gold pocket watch made by Patek Philippe, which sold for $11 million at Sotheby's in 1999. Founded in Geneva in 1839, the world-renowned Philippe Patek continues to produce highly collectable watches.
