Blue Nile surfaces in UKTuesday, 4th October 2005 (3921 views) US online jeweller, Blue Nile, has launched its UK websiteSince 1999, Blue Nile has offered retail customers high quality jewellery at discounts of up to 40 per cent. The launch of the UK site takes Blue Nile into a third national market following the development of a Canadian portal earlier this year. As well as offering customers discounts on recommended retail prices the site also attempts to educate them on how to get the best deal when entering the jewellery market. Commenting on the launch, Blue Nile chief executive officer, Mark Vadon, said: "We believe the UK consumer is currently being underserved by the UK jewellery industry. "Given our value proposition and the vast diamond selection we offer, we anticipate great success in the UK's US$2 billion diamond jewellery market. In fact, Blue Nile's largest sale to date came from a UK customer who purchased a diamond for more than US$200,000." As well as offering an extensive range of diamonds, the firm has extended its white and yellow gold lines to appeal to the UK market. In response to customer requests it has also added a "Build Your Own" area to its website, putting the consumer in complete control of how the finished article will look.
