Tuesday, 4th October 2005 (6392 views) Jewellery firm Damas has announced that it is to open its first Indian outlet on October 7th as part of a three year Rs 300 crore investment plan.The firm currently has over 200 retail outlets worldwide and according to Chennai Online it plans to open 30 more at locations including Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkatta. In addition to its retail activities Damas also designs and manufactures gold and diamond studded jewellery for sale across four continents. Commenting on the new site, Damas Exclusives' managing director explained to Chennai Online: "We chose Bangalore for launching our outlet because it was one of the cities that held a huge potential in terms of a mix of consumers: those that belonged to the old wealthy generation and the new IT generation which had huge spending power and sophisticated brand preference." India is currently the world's largest consumer of yellow gold and the new Damas outlet will offer a full range of jewellery from every-day items to top of the range bespoke creations
