AuDITIONS competition encourages ethno-contemporary gold designMonday, 3rd October 2005 (4041 views) A competition has been launched in India with the aim of providing a worldwide forum for cultivating and displaying new design talent.AuDITIONS was launched by AngloGold Ashanti in conjunction with the World Gold Council (WGC) and aims to identify and stimulate Indian design talent across the professional, amateur, karigar and student fraternities. The Indian edition of the contest will be based around what is described as an ethno-contemporary theme, with entrants being asked to combine Indian design heritage with modern ideas and come out with a wholly fresh design aesthetic. Speaking at the launch Sanjeev Agarwal, managing director for the Indian subcontinent at WGC, said: "India with its rich cultural heritage offers much to the creative minds to play around in the context of jewellery. "Indian consumers are always on a look out for design innovations, within the realms of traditional framework." The competition aims to raise customer awareness of both traditional and modern designs in gold jewellery. The contest begins on October 27th, with October 31st the last date for new entries.
