Online gold purchases security

Tuesday, 13th September 2005 (4129 views)

An online company hopes to take the danger out of purchasing jewellery via the internet.

Jewellery Vortex claims to be the only jewellery company using 128-bit encryption to ensure that customers enjoy peace of mind when buying gold goods online.

The company's website is certified by Thawte, a certification authority which maintains security credentials, and has been awarded an A grade from the Better Business Bureau.

Consumers can choose from a range of gold, silver and titanium jewellery in addition to designer watches and birthstone jewellery.

Specialising in wedding rings, Jewellery Vortex can design to order in a range of different coloured gold.

"Buying valuable commodities like jewellery online needs a completely foolproof transaction system," said James Bang, head of Jewellery Vortex’s security department in Los Angeles.

When purchasing gold goods, authenticity can be quickly ascertained by looking for a cartage stamp. This mark is legally required in many countries and where it is not jewellers often choose to imprint their designs with both their own mark and the gold's cartage in carats.
