White gold cricket balls for Pietersen

Thursday, 25th August 2005 (4983 views)

Cricket star Kevin Pietersen who bats for England has proved his love of gold by ordering some studs that feature white gold cricket balls with diamond stitching.

The good-looking cricket player visited Burrells jewellers in Canary Wharf, London and walked out with an array of jewels.

South African-born Pietersen was loaned some diamond studs until his £25,000 cricket ball studs arrive and the jewellers are also providing him with a £50,000 cricket bat pendant.

Scott Drewell, manager of Burrells told The Wharf that: "Kevin likes to stand out in the crowd, the more eye-catching the jewellery the better."

"He's quite a unique character. Dare I say he's the new David Beckham," he continued.

Mr Pietersen recently played in the Ashes Test at Lords and is known for being a little superstitious as he always puts his left hand pad on first.
