Wednesday, 17th August 2005 (6211 views) A gold stick was added to a fully functioning Viking ship made entirely of ice-cream sticks in the Netherlands.<br/><br/>The 15 millionth stick that Rob McDonald and his son added to the unusual boat was made of gold.<br/><br/>This adds an element of glitter to the otherwise wooden boat that took 2.2 tons of glue and 15 million birch wood ice cream sticks to build.<br/><br/>Weighing 13 tonnes, the 45-foot ship was successfully launched and Mr McDonald intends to sail around the world in it.<br/><br/>He hopes his achievement will encourage young children to follow their dreams: "If they can dream it, they can do it," he declared.<br/><br/>McDonald has certainly set the gold standard for mammoth achievements and is looking to get recognised by the Guinness Book of Records.<br/><br/><br/><img alt="track" src='http://feeds.directnews.org.uk/feedtrack/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=15025288'/>© Adfero Ltd
