Malaysian gold jewellery salesMonday, 15th August 2005 (4274 views) The Malaysian company, Habib Jewels, ends its mega sale on August 31st and expects to have done a roaring trade by then.It expects the 'Queen's Heart' diamond collection to be the drawing point but plentiful gold is also on offer. Assistant manager, Badrul Hisham Kamarudin, reported sales totalling RM6million (£880,000). "During the mega sale, gold jewellery will be sold at RM55 [£8] per gram, after a RM4 [60p] discount," he told 'StarBiz'. The collections are expected to sell to couples marrying in the next few months. Although Malaysia does not have as high a gold demand as other Asian countries such as India, the world's largest gold jewellery consumer, gold is important there. Many people in Malaysia descend from the Chinese and have elaborate wedding ceremonies such as the Peranakan. © Adfero Ltd
