Glimmer and glamour hit beach jewelleryMonday, 8th August 2005 (3987 views) Delicate yet glamorous jewellery is tipped as a hot favourite for the beach this year, writes the Financial Times' Lucy Reiter.Gold is being used in many designs as it is lightweight and it catches the sun. It is also practical as it does not fade or discolour although it should still be protected; the director of Catherine Jones in Cambridge suggests washing it gently with a solution such as washing up liquid after beach use. The co-partner of Heidi Klein reported that "people are wearing more jewellery on the beach than ever before". This comes at a time when the boundary between beach and formal wear is becoming increasingly blurred; the now widespread practice of wearing flip-flips to the office sees its opposing partner in wearing gold to the beach. Pieces often include natural items such as pearls and shells but silver is generally best avoided because it suffers badly from discolouration. © Adfero Ltd
