Mubasher Ilyas Naushali was the first lucky winner of one kilo of gold after his ticket was drawn in the ongoing Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group's sixth raffle.

Throughout the summer, from June 22nd to September 2nd, winners will be drawn at the rate of one a week to celebrate the Dubai Summer Surprises promotion.

Every person who buys gold jewellery worth AED250 at one of the 350 participating stores has the chance to win one of ten kilos of gold.

Mr Naushali called it "amazing" and said: "This is a gift from God, otherwise, how could I have won this gold."

Shoppers can also enter a draw to win a carat solitaire each week upon purchase of over AED500 worth of stone goods or watches.

Meanwhile, Faiezeh Aleali proved to have double the luck when she scooped not only a diamond solitaire this time around but also a kilo of gold when she entered the competition at the Dubai Shopping Festival earlier this year.

Gold goods feature heavily in all three of Dubai's annual shopping festivals, the Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Summer Surprises and Dubai – City that Cares.
