Hublot gold watch up for racing grabsThursday, 4th August 2005 (4168 views) Prestige watchmaker Hublot is the official timekeeper for Afflelou Figaro Solo sailing race.The regatta, which takes place between the beginning of August and the 28th of the month, will see competitors from Perros Guirec towards Bilbao, returning to La Rochelle, then Cork (Crosshaven), with the finishing line at Port Bourgenay. The winner of the race will pick up rose gold SuperB chronograph, while steel SuperB chronographs that will be awarded to the winner of each Hublot record for each of the four stages. The watches themselves are tailored for sea-use, featuring tachometric graduations and a patented black natural rubber insulation system that puts paid to water-proofing problems. The fusion of rubber and gold, which is commonplace today, was pioneered by Hublot 20 years ago, when it combined gold and rubber for the first time.
