Jewellery designers encouraged at Tokyo showThursday, 28th July 2005 (4581 views) Jewellery designers in Israel are being encouraged to go to Japan to take part in an upcoming exhibition in Tokyo. The exhibition, being organised by Reed Exhibitions Japan and the Japan Jewellery Association, is expected to attract thousands of visitors and designers are being encouraged to display their goods. Reeds Exhibitions director of international sales, Sharon Chan, has led a concerted drive to recruit Israeli designers to join the event. The most productive way to enter the market in Japan is to go there and meet a large number of quality buyers, Chan told Rapaport News. Japan is regarded as a tough market to crack, but Reed Exhibitons believe that if an effort is made to get known and meet the right people, success is possible. "If you have the right products, Japan is a worthwhile market," Chan added. Gold and diamond jewellery is a popular product among wealthy Japanese consumers, with design and quality crucial elements in promoting demand. It is felt that Israeli design will appeal to the discerning Japanese market.
