An online jewellery store specialising in items made from yellow gold and platinum has opened its doors.

Known as excellent-matthew.com, the firm has announced its grand opening and is offering internet users with the opportunity to purchase necklaces, pendants, earrings, and rings with gemstones set in gold.

The store is the first wholly online outlet for the provision of such precious and valuable items, and if it is successful it could become a major new outlet for gold jewellery.

Customers using the new website will be able to make quick decisions because they will no longer have to spend hours travelling between stores, as Excellent Matthew enables the customer to go directly to merchants' products.

Gold is increasingly popular among jewellers, fuelled by a number of very expensive pieces being worn by some of Hollywood's biggest stars, and that popularity looks set to continue online as more people find that gold jewellery is more accessible to them and not simply for the film world's elite.
