Friday, 15th July 2005 (5929 views) Israel is preparing to hold the third of a series of contemporary jewellery exhibitions.<br/><br/>Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv will hold a display of beaten gold, with 70 designers displaying their works.<br/><br/>Beaten gold, in the context of biblical jewellery manufacturing, means gold items that have been ground, sharpened, flattened and then hammered out to create a rough texture.<br/><br/>Participants include architects, product designers and jewellery makers, who were asked to relate in their works to the link between art and industry.<br/><br/>The relationship with industry is expressed primarily in the recycling of materials rather than in the actual manufacture of jewellery.<br/><br/>"The tension between the words 'gold' and 'beaten' arouses much curiosity from the moment we take a close look at the link between art and industry," explained the curator of the museum, Deganit Stern Schocken.<br/><img alt="track" src="http://feeds.directnews.org.uk/feedtrack/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=15005755"/>
