Jewellery companies aiming for greater social responsibilityThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 5th July 2005 (5658 views) Companies from across the gold and jewellery industry have grouped together under the banner of the Council of Responsible Jewellery Practices (CRJP) and pledged to promote responsible business practice across the industry and promised greater transparency and accountability.

The 14 founding members of the council represent a broad spread of companies from across the industry, with mining companies sitting alongside representatives from the retail sector.

The CRJP believes that industry stakeholders will benefit from the changes it hopes to make to the ethical, social and environmental commitments of the industry. Working together to achieve these goals will eradicate the duplication of efforts and allow standards and practices to improve universally across the diamond and gold jewellery industry.
