Wednesday, 8th June 2005 (5447 views) Californian jewellers have been given a boost from modern technology when it comes to perfecting their artistry.<br/><br/>At Emerson & Farrar, in addition to using the more traditional tools and techniques, crafting jewellery involves the use of modern, computer-aided design and milling to take an idea from design to completed piece. <br/><br/>The new technology allows pieces to be created with a speed and precision not possible before. <br/><br/>"This technology enhances our ability to exceed our customers' expectations while making the customer an intimate part of the design process," Californian store owner Paul Emerson told Redlands Daily Facts. <br/><br/>Customers can better visualize how the finished piece will look, seeing it in a variety of three-dimensional views on the computer screen. <br/><br/>The new techniques look set to replace the traditional methods of drawing a design and then creating a wax model by giving greater flexibility to customers before the was mould is made, making the whole process faster and more accurate.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8701109"/>
