Sheikha Fatima honoured on commemorative gold coinsThursday, 2nd June 2005 (4022 views) The UAE Central Bank has said that it will be issuing commemorative gold and silver coins to honour the Mother of the Nation, Sheikha Fatima Bint MubarakThe announcement was made by the Minister of Education Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan who said that the move was a token of appreciation for her efforts to create a positive future for generations of people in the UAE. He added: "It is also a commemoration of her worldwide humanitarian efforts." The coins will have a logo designated for honouring Sheikha Fatima on one side and a portrait of the founding father of the nation, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, on the other. The commemorative coins will include 1,000 pieces of gold and 2,000 pieces of silver in addition to 250,000 of silver dirhams that will be used in daily circulation. The minting of the coin is part of the nationwide celebration to honour the Mother of the Nation.
