A new mall offering the best in gold jewellery and watches is opening in Kochi, India.

Real estate developer, Aerens Gold Souk International, is behind the 400,000 square-foot development, which the company says will appeal to the exclusive end of the gold jewellery market.

All kinds of retail branded jewellery from India and abroad will be on sale in the 150 shops housed within the souk - including pieces from Alukkas, B.C. Sen and M.P. Jewellers.

A specialist wedding service will complement the jewellery sales, helping brides and guests to look their best on golden occasions.

This is the third of 10 malls the company plans to set up, with others planned for Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Jaipur.

"We seek to project the Gold Souk as an excellent opportunity for attracting investment to Kerala," said Aerens chief executive, V. Suresh. "NRIs will be inclined to spend on jewellery here rather than abroad."
