Wednesday, 11th May 2005 (5945 views) A prestigious goldsmith whose name is synonymous with luxury jewellery has been acquired by the Chanel couture house.<br/><br/>Robert Goossens has been bought by the fashion house, bringing the Paris-based gold and silversmith back into the Chanel fold, Women's Wear Daily reports.<br/><br/>The expert jewellery-maker collaborated with Coco Chanel on some of her most iconic jewellery designs from 1955 until her death in 1971.<br/><br/>The Goossens of today, now run by its founder's son Patrick, sells its own signature brand from a boutique on the Avenue George V, as well as creating jewellery for various prestigious fashion clients.<br/><br/>Robert Goossens was famous for his innovative designs using a wealth of source material. <br/><br/>"I am the naive genius of jewellery," Mr Goossens is quoted as saying.
