Stunning gold kamarband wows Indian jewellers [jewellery]Tuesday, 10th May 2005 (4482 views) Ishi Jewellery is promoting a new gold and diamond 'kamarband' in Chennai.The two kg piece of jewellery consists of 8,000 diamonds in strings of 18 carat gold chains and is being promoted as a tribute to the essence of a woman. The diamonds, from the Diamond Trading Corporation, weigh 200 carats and 33 designs for the piece were rejected before the company opted for the final result. The item takes seven people three months to craft and the kamarband has been displayed at fashion exhibitions abroad. The piece begins at the navel with a large solitaire and falls in several layers around the waist, according to The Hindu. Leena, Miss South India 2003, modelled the kamarband at a special session in Chennai on Monday and Bipasha Basu, Pooja Bedi and Diana Hayden have also worn it. A Hollywood producer, who saw the product at an exhibition in Switzerland, has reportedly already purchased the Kamarband. Ishi's Jewellery is a division of Mumbai-based Suashish Diamonds. The company entered the exclusive jewellery market with diamond-studded ties, retailing for Rs 40,000.
