Top designer creates new collection to support gay marriages

Thursday, 14th April 2005 (4225 views)

A new jewellery collection has been launched for gay marriages, the first major collection of designer bands and rings created especially for same-sex couples.

The Love and Pride collection was designed by Udi Behr, who has created items for stars including Sharon Stone and Britney Spears.

"When I saw Mayor Gavin Newsom stand up for gay couples in San Francisco last year, I decided I had to do something too. As a jewellery designer, the natural thing was to lend my support with a new jewellery collection," Mr Behr explained.

The collection was launched at A Walk Down the Aisle, a special event to support gay marriages.

Ten per cent of profits will go towards a new non-profit organisation that works to gain civil rights for gays and lesbians.

Items on the collection's specially created site include 18-carat gold wedding bands, diamond engagement rings, fashion jewellery and watches.track
