Tuesday, 12th April 2005 (5696 views) A rare gold pendant discovered in Shropshire has been declared as treasure.<br/><br/>The Anglo Saxon pendant is of national significance and dates from 600AD, according to the Shropshire Star.<br/><br/>Peter Reavill, finds liaison officer for Shropshire and Hereford, commented: "It is a very, very important artefact for the county and possibly for the nation."<br/><br/>The item was unearthed by a couple searching the area with metal detectors in a mystery location near Oswestry.<br/><br/>Coroner John Ellery declared the item as treasure today, although it was first discovered in November.<br/><br/>The oval pendant has a well-polished garnet or glass stone and is set in gold.<br/><br/>It was sent to the British Museum and is currently being kept there until a treasury valuation.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8255944"/>
