Tuesday, 12th April 2005 (5684 views) Italy's OroArezzo jewellery show is set to be a big success this year, with large crowds and busy booths already reported at the event.<br/><br/>The trade show opened on April 9th and is set to run until April 13th in Tuscany, with over 1,600 precious metal jewellery firms based in the area.<br/><br/>According to JCK, the Tuscan province of Arezzo is one of the most important centres in the world for crafted gold jewellery.<br/><br/>The show is often very popular with the world's jewellery buyers for this reason and because local factories are well known for their innovative designs.<br/><br/>Central Promozioni e Servizi and the Italian Trade Commission organise the event and expect this year's attendance to reach at least 6,668 achieved in 2004 or more.<br/><br/>Some concerns have been raised over the increase in gold price and drop in dollar, which could have a negative effect on sales.<br/><br/>However, companies have been looking for gold in lighter weights and pieces mixed with other materials and colours to attract US buyers who may be put off by the declining dollar.<br/><br/>"People are investing in colour," Bernard Sakmar of Old World Chain jewellers, said. In addition the company is also providing some gold jewellery pieces to retailers on consignment.<br/> <br/>A $26 million expansion and renovation is planned for the Business and Convention Centre, which is set to mean more modern facilities and bigger space for future OroArezzo shows by 2007.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8252841"/>
