Key figures from Russia's jewellery industry have met with Russian president Vladimir Putin this week to discuss the future of the sector.

Representatives of the Jewelers Guild of Russia and the general manager of the Krasnoselsk jewellery enterprise, Floon Gumerov, took part in the talks, according to Rapaport.

The guild said that the discussions, which also included problems facing the industry, would have a positive impact on the guild and the future of the jewellery sector.

Figures from the Assay Chamber showed that gold jewellery production in Russia increased by 22 per cent last year.

Results showed that Russia produced 26.942 million items of gold jewellery, using 60.784 tonnes of gold.
