Women in charge when it comes to engagement rings

Tuesday, 22nd March 2005 (4274 views)

Brides today now have more influence than ever before over the engagement ring they receive, according to website TheKnot.com.

Latest trends were revealed at the Bridal 2005 show held in New York this Monday.

Around 64 per cent of brides-to-be drop hints at the type of ring they want or go with their boyfriend to the jeweller to choose the ring.

"Brides today have an idea of what they want, and they are going to make sure, one way or another, that they have that ring on their finger," TheKnot editor in chief, Carley Roney, told National Jeweler.

Grooms now rely considerably on advice from friends on family on what ring to choose, whilst brides like to do research in magazines and online.

The report claims that retailers should pay a lot of attention to future brides who come to browse alone, since if they get good service figures show they will often return with their husband to make the final purchase.track
