Chile prepares for international jewellery show

Monday, 14th March 2005 (3863 views)

The tenth international Joya Chile show is set to take place this month in Santiago.

The show features watches, jewellery and precious stones and is dedicated to wholesalers, retailers, designers, importers and other industry professionals.

Running from May 23rd to 26th, the show is organised by Bernal & Cia, who claim Chile is an important trade destination since it has signed many bilateral and multilateral trade agreements that have helped open up its economy.

According to Rapaport, investors have access to nearly 1.2billion consumers.

In addition, Chile removed many countries from having to pay import tax on any type of gold and silver jewellery set with stones, diamonds or pearls.

The organisers also feel that the government's recent cut of tax on luxury goods, such as jewellery from 50 per cent to 15 per cent "is a notable advance for the development of the industry".track
