Friday, 11th March 2005 (5582 views) An American museum is launching a new exhibition focusing on a popular jewellery style.<br/><br/>Cameo Appearances includes over 160 cameos covering the Greco-Roman era through to the 19th century.<br/><br/>Among the items on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a 19th century set made up of a necklace, brooch and tiara covered in onyx and mounted in gold.<br/><br/>The item is designed by Luigi Sualini and is an example of how many cameos were designed as jewellery, but were not always intended as wearable pieces.<br/><br/>According to National Jeweler, the exhibit runs from March 8th until October 30th.<br/><br/>A number of educational programmes are also being run in line with the new display.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8004171"/>
