JC Penney sales were up last month, as Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day helped boost sales.<br/><br/>Fine jewellery achieved particularly good sales results and was one of the retailer's top performing product categories during February.<br/><br/>Same-store sales increased by 6.1 per cent in February and total company earnings were $1.28 billion, up from $1.2 billion compared to the four-week period ending February 26th in 2004.<br/><br/>In addition catalogue and internet sales were up by 6.4 per cent.<br/><br/>JC Penney is one of the largest department stores in the US and its catalogue is the largest for general merchandise in the US.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7984418"/>
