White gold standard createdWednesday, 9th March 2005 (4009 views) A standard for colour identification for white gold has now been established, as the Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America (MJSA) and the World Gold Council (WGC) launched the White Gold Whiteness Index this week.It is hoped the new index will provide a common standard for manufacturers, metals suppliers and retailers to work from, according to National Jeweler. The index is made up of a template with a selection of samples in a chart for comparison and companies will be able to define between white gold, pure white or off white. Classifications include grade one Good White, grade two Reasonable White and grade three Poor White. It took 18 months for the White Gold Task force to create the standard reference, a group made up of smelters, jewellers and manufacturers.
