US men have clearly been taking note of their girlfriends and wives this year, as US jewellers reported record sales during the Valentine's period.<br/><br/>Research around Valentine's Day indicated that the best gift a woman could be bought by her loved one was jewellery and men must have been listening.<br/><br/>Elizabeth Parker, of Curt Parker Jewelers in Missouri, told Rapaport: "We had our highest-grossing Valentine's Day and month of February with two weeks still to go."<br/><br/>In addition, other jewellers reported customers were still visiting at closing time on Valentine's Day, whilst some such as Gold & Gems Fine Jewellery in Oregon simply stated they were "busy, busy, busy".<br/><br/>Anything with diamonds on it or that "lies on the neck" was popular for the romantic festival, with sales up for chandelier earrings, signet rings and gold chains.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7976590"/>
