US jewellers celebrate jewellery rush at ValentinesTuesday, 8th March 2005 (3833 views) US men have clearly been taking note of their girlfriends and wives this year, as US jewellers reported record sales during the Valentine's period.Research around Valentine's Day indicated that the best gift a woman could be bought by her loved one was jewellery and men must have been listening. Elizabeth Parker, of Curt Parker Jewelers in Missouri, told Rapaport: "We had our highest-grossing Valentine's Day and month of February with two weeks still to go." In addition, other jewellers reported customers were still visiting at closing time on Valentine's Day, whilst some such as Gold & Gems Fine Jewellery in Oregon simply stated they were "busy, busy, busy". Anything with diamonds on it or that "lies on the neck" was popular for the romantic festival, with sales up for chandelier earrings, signet rings and gold chains.
