Monday, 7th March 2005 (5575 views) Jewellery production is set to rise by over a quarter in the next three years in Dubai, according to current statistics.<br/><br/>The recently launched Jewellery and Gemplex at the Dubai Pavilion is hoped to help support this growth, according to AME Info.<br/><br/>Dubai is looking to further increase its jewellery industry and achieve greater international integration.<br/><br/>Ahmed bin Sulayem, chief operations officer, DMCC, stated: "Dubai is clearly the infrastructural and geographical hub for jewellery production and, with its focus on high-end manufacturing, DMCC initiatives and partnerships have helped foster and develop Dubai as a destination where international manufacturers can consolidate their operations."<br/><br/>Latest figures show that around 45 tonnes of jewellery was made in Dubai in 2003, a figure set to increase by 25 per cent by 2008.<br/><br/>Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) information also suggests that 95 per cent of tourists to Dubai purchase gold and jewellery, so there is a key need to increase output further.<br/><br/>It is hoped a number of moves will help to boost the jewellery industry further, with plans including free zone status, secure vault facilities, purpose-built refineries, workshops and assay facilities.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7967414"/>
