Gold industry gathers in Dubai for conferenceMonday, 21st February 2005 (4295 views) Members of the gold industry from across the world have gathered in Dubai to begin the third City of Gold conference.Delegates from countries including the UK, South Africa, Italy and India will discuss a range of issues facing the jewellery industry, with the event being backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government. The conference opens with an address from HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE minister of economy and planning. Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) will host the event, with chairman Tawhid Abdullah highlighting it as a major opportunity for the industry to look to the future. "Dubai is rapidly becoming a very important regional and international hub in the trade of gold and precious metals," he told Strategiy. The DGJG is hoping to use the event as a springboard for establishing a committee to promote global jewellery marketing.
