DGJG plans third gold conferenceMonday, 7th February 2005 (4050 views) The Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) is organising its third City of Gold conference for this year, being described as a unique global industry event which will address key challenges faced by the sector.A host of important figures are supporting the event and the Dubai Metals & Commodities Centre (DMCC) is also helping to organise the conference, according to strategiy. Figures set to speak at the event include the managing director for marketing and jewellery at the WGC, Philip Olden, AngloGold Ashanti and Gold Field Mineral Services. Over 300 people are expected to attend and 20 industry experts will take part from countries including Turkey, the UK and Switzerland. Tawhid Abdullah, chairman of DGJG, said: "A focused and coordinated effort towards integrated marketing of 'jewellery' as a single category - be it diamond, pearl or any other precious metal - especially targeting youth and modern consumers, is critical to the future success of our trade." The conference will focus on three key topics - an integrated global jewellery market, identifying new marketing opportunities and branded products. "The conference is an important event in the development of Dubai into a hub for the regional and global gold sector," Colin Griffith, DMCC's executive director for the gold and precious metals sector added.
