Monday, 17th January 2005 (5946 views) Whitehall Jewellers has reported that like-for-like sales tailed off nine per cent during the November to December holiday period.<br/><br/>Lat year saw a 6.4 per cent increase in sales for the same festive period. <br/><br/>Total sales for the period totalled $110.8 million (£59.7 million), compared to $120.9 million (£65 million) for the same period in 2003. <br/><br/>Sales for the preceding 11-month period decreased 3.6 per cent, compared to a 0.7 per cent decrease for the same period in 2003. <br/><br/>The company has said it will continue to focus on repositioning its brand with new merchandise assortments.<br/><br/>Whitehall currently operates 382 stores in 38 states.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7584878"/>
