Ross-Simons, one of the US's largest retailers of fine jewellery, has released its list of the top 10 hottest jewellery items of this past holiday season, with diamond earrings coming top of the pile.

"While classics still dominate the list, our diamond drop earrings quickly became the number one best seller of the season," said Darrell Ross, president of Ross-Simons.

Second in the list, behind the diamond drop earrings were the Classic Circle Pin, with the Statement-Making Cuff Bracelet in third place.

Next was the Gold and Diamond Bow Pin while the Stainless Steel Diamond Bezel Watch came in fifth.

In sixth spot was the 14kt Gold Diamond and Rose Topaz "Y" Necklace while the 1ct Round Diamond Stud Earrings was seventh.

The 2ct Round Diamond Stud Earrings secured berth eight, with 3-Stone Diamond Rings at nine.

Bringing up the rear was the 14kt White Gold Snap-Bar Hoops
