Golden gift to raise funds for tsunami orphans

Thursday, 6th January 2005 (4071 views)

A gold pendant has been created to help raise funds for orphans in Sri Lanka, following the tsunami disaster.

Designer Jane Taylor has created a pendant, which will be sold globally and available in 18 carat and 14 carat gold or silver.

Ms Taylor commented: "These children have no homes and no parents. I am overwhelmed with the desire to help them."

Called 'Rala', the pendant is named after the Sri Lankan word for wave and will contain two waves inside a circle.

The jeweller is known for her Chubby Bezel design and will donate all profits to a Sri Lankan orphanage that was hit during the tsunami.

Thousands of orphans have been created as a result of the event on December 26th.
