Details of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) have now been revealed, with consumers able to win huge amounts of gold.

A special gala function has been held this week to reveal the 2005 plans, with announcements made by Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai department of civil aviation, chairman of the Emirates group and chairman of DSF's supreme committee.

Attending the event were DSF sponsors, members of the organising committee and the local media.

Announcing the event, Shaikh Ahmed said: "I am proud to say that the festival, now in its first decade, has become the ultimate shopping, winning and entertaining event.

"Today, the DSF is a melting pot of cultures where people from all over the world come together as a family and enjoy the fruits of success planted by the late president, Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan."

As part of the event a special 22 carat gold coin was unveiled to symbolise the tenth festival and family, word-class entertainment and shopping.

Gold prizes will be given throughout the event, with 100 kilos of gold awarded to one winner, five kilos of gold given away each week and one kilo of gold per day.

Held in new locations next year, the event will run for 79 days until March 31st.
