Italian jewellery sales increase for Christmas

Monday, 20th December 2004 (4199 views)

Italian consumers are increasingly purchasing jewellery as one of the top gifts at Christmas time, with this year's jewellery sales set to rise by five per cent during the festive shopping period.

Experts believe that under the Christmas tree this year, Italian women are likely to find white gold and jewel encrusted jewellery, especially bracelets.

In addition, Italian men are set to be opening up cufflinks of different shapes, according to AGI.

Watches are also set to be a popular area for both genders in the country.

According to figures, 15 per cent of the world's gold is worked in Italy and with a high national consumption, Italy exports over 50 per cent of the jewellery it makes.
