Jewellery sales to sparkle online

Thursday, 11th November 2004 (4106 views)

A new report by comScore Networks has claimed that the amount spent on watches and jewellery online this season is set to increase by 67 per cent, compared to last year.

According to National Jeweler, the company is a global consulting business, which analyses consumer behaviour and the effect on marketing and sales.

Dan Hess, comScore's senior vice president, commented: "We believe consumers' growing familiarity and confidence with online shopping, coupled with a dramatic increase in broadband penetration and continuing efforts by retailers to simplify the shopping process across channels, will translate to substantial gains for online merchants again this year."

Figures in the study suggest that online jewellery and watch sales during the Christmas period will reach $739 million in 2004, compared to $443 million last year.
