US museum displays Native American jewellery

The US is to be offered an insight into Native American jewellery in a new exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

'Totems to Turquoise' highlights the cultural significance of contemporary and historical jewellery and contains over 500 pieces.

The exhibition is running all the way through to July 10 in 2005m with artist and piece information displayed next to each item of jewellery that is showcased.

A host of items are displayed including sculptures, boxes, masks and jewellery.

The exhibition also includes weavings, pottery and figures, and shows the similarities and differences in the northwest and southwest regions in the US.
