The Jewels of India expo has now begun, helping to celebrate the diversity of jewellery art and to display and sell gold and fine jewellery.

Running for four days, many women in the country wait all year for the event, which takes place at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bangalore.

Also attending the event is Pia Trivedi from Mumbai - the face of the event's campaign this year, according to the Star of Mysore.

Jewels of India is co-sponsored by the World Gold Council, Jewellers Association, Bangalore and is organised by Expoworld.

Visitors were expected from a selection of different areas and a nearby school grounds were being used as a car park to make things easier for people.

Some items of jewellery have premiered for the first time at the event.
