India prepares for innovative jewellery showTuesday, 12th October 2004 (4129 views) The event known for its jewellery art diversity - 'Jewels of India', is set to take place this weekend.In its sixth year, the leading jewellery retail exhibition in India is set to display a host of gold, diamonds and fine jewellery. Expoworld convener Sandeep Bekal told the Times of India: "Last year we had a record number of 60,000 visitors for the exhibition. This year, we expect the number to go up. Overseas jewellery is a big attraction this time." This year the event will be held in the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium and will showcase work by more than 100 top jewellers. As well as a foreign section, the exhibition will feature regional pieces, such as handcrafted gold jewellery from Kolkata and antique temple jewellery from Tamil Nadu. The exhibition will run from October 16 to October 19.
