Monday, 11th October 2004 (5687 views) Members of an American jewellery group have been competing against one another in a bid to be picked to represent their group in a special exhibition next year.<BR/><BR/>The NC Society of Goldsmiths has 22 members battling it out to be the one to represent the group at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, where jewellery will be displayed that deals with the natural world.<BR/><BR/>In addition, pieces need to reflect a high quality of workmanship and be aesthetically pleasing, according to the Herald Sun.<BR/><BR/>One item created took hours to make - with four types of gold weaved around sapphires and diamonds, in a beautiful necklace that is worth $1,800.<BR/><BR/>This is the first year the society has been given the chance to display its work in the museum and the necklaces and bracelets will be used in connection with the museum's February exhibit 'Treasures Unearthed.'<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3588922"/>
