Tuesday, 5th October 2004 (5794 views) Sales of gold jewellery are proving sky high for Chinese airline Cathay Pacific, as it experiences top sales results for its on-board 'sky plaza'.<BR/><BR/>The shopping experience up in the clouds is proving extremely popular, with sales of a host of items experiencing continuous increases.<BR/><BR/>Cathay service delivery director Quince Chong told The Standard: "Shopping has become as much a part of in-flight entertainment as movies and food, so over the years, we have greatly enhanced the shopping experience and expanded the range of products we offer."<BR/><BR/>One product that sells well is a pearl pendant with an 18 carat gold chain, priced at HK$1,880, which is exclusive to the company.<BR/><BR/>According to the firm, air travellers now spend around HK$10 million and HK$12 million each month, and Mr Chong claims the firm even lays on extra staff sometimes especially for the retail sales.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3539072"/>
