Talks held to boost image of IJD

Monday, 20th September 2004 (3935 views)

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has been in talks with the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group in a bid to boost International Jewellery Dubai (IJD) among global traders.

It is hoped that through a new initiative the strengths of IJD will be highlighted and its status will be improved among both consumers and traders across the world.

DWTC director general Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri told AME Info: "IJD has grown tremendously in stature and while it is the most significant show of its kind in the region, we feel that the time is right to examine ways to further enhance its standing on the world stage.

"With Dubai playing an increasingly important part in the worldwide gold and jewellery trade, thanks to its strategic position and strong trade ties with the region, an exhibition like International Jewellery Dubai has tremendous scope for growth," he added.

It is hoped talks will also lead to a strengthening of high standard jewellery exhibitions in Dubai as a whole and help to create a positive reputation.

IJD has been running for 10 years and has helped towards the 110 manufactures of gold and jewellery in the UAE at present.
