Bangkok is to have one more international fair for local gem and jewelry manufacturers and exporters, from June next year.

The inaugural Bangkok Gem & Jewellery Manufacturers Fair will be held between June 22nd and 26th, 2005, the first three days of which will be for trade visitors only. The general public will be admitted in the final two days.

The fair will concentrate on manufacturing companies from all sectors of the industry, rather than traders, in order to showcase the widest possible range of goods being produced in the region.

It will include jewellery products, gemstones, accessories, raw materials, machinery, related services, seminars, and educational programs, according to the Jewelers' Circular Keystone.

The fair is expected to attract 500 exhibitors in around 900 booths and is estimated to draw approximately 12,000 visitors.

A spokesperson for the organisers of the fair, Neway International Trade Fairs, said: "Bangkok already has two fairs in March and September but there is a vacuum during the middle of the year, which the Bangkok Gem & Jewellery Manufacturers Fair will fill.

"In many cases, the September show is held too late for the exhibitors to benefit from Christmas and Thanksgiving orders.

"Therefore, the Bangkok Gem & Jewellery Manufacturers Fair will provide local manufacturers a timely event that will allow them to benefit from orders for the holiday season."

The timing of this fair also coincides with fairs in Mainland China, including the June Hong Kong Show, giving visitors to the region another stop in their itinerary.
